People will always label you with words to discourage you from achieving your full potential. Thats just the way some people are programmed to live. It is up to you, however, to choose how you want to deal with those words. The following examples show successful ways stereotypes have been dealt with in the past:
Protests have been going on all around the world to show the unjust way Black poeple have been treated by society, which started because the death of many innocent black men and woman due to stereotypes they were automatically associated with. The support and cries from the people has caused companies such as the Washington Redskins and Aunt Jemima to be rebranded with a new image and name.
Sitting down with someone, understanding where they come from, and why they think the way they do is crucial in correcting them. Many things can happen from talking to someone, you could educate yourself, the other person, or a whole community. The whole point it to evolve the way we think as humans and come closer to seeing each other as equals, and sitting down with someone and understanding them is the best way for that to happen.
The way social media has impacted out lives has increased expedentially. Through the power of social media, many groups, people and even organizations have been "canceled" by the protests by just normal everyday people coming together and fighting for what they believe in. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter have become a strong suit for people trying to fight for a change.
Don't start violent protests/fights.
Don't threaten someones life or their family.
Don't take what they say to heart.
