We are an international collective of designers and scholars who want to engage more consciously and curiously with the living world around us. We are doing so by striving to integrate multi-species perspectives into our work as designers, artists, researchers, and bio-enthusiasts, rethinking habitable spaces as hybrid mediums for coexistence and the cognification of interacting within species.

We think of textiles as a conceptual and physical web of threads that weaves together different scales, materials, techniques, methods, disciplines, human and non-human earthlings like other animals, plants, and microorganisms.

Lara Campos

Designer, researcher and artist driven by biomaterial exploration. Her practice digs through diverse narratives within materials, technologies and living beings, while proposing ontologies based on eco-centric approaches and multispecies ideologies.

Her work is based on nature as cognified matter merging craft techniques with digital fabrication. Her research focuses on emotional response while proposes the exploration of hybrid habitable spaces and the experimentation of new material worlds, as sensorial and interactive experiences in order to ideate on better solutions of coexistence.

Lara believes that design can open a space for dialogue between humans and other living beings, based on collaborative and conscious creation models. To support and expand her exploratory nature, she facilitates talks, workshops & seminars where she proposes the exploration of organic matter as a contemporary artistic practice. She is also part of several transdisciplinary collectives, where she works on growing materials, local resources foraging, circular & social economies, food waste design, sustainability, co-creation systems and horizontal management.

Inspired by textile storytelling, she graduated in Textile Design and then took different courses to nurture her multidisciplinary approach. Among them diversity of craft techniques, anthropology, post-natural philosophy and herbalism. She delved into biodesign, digital manufacturing and sustainable technologies at Fabricademy, a postgraduate course facilitated at Fab Lab Barcelona. She has participated in various international exhibitions and conferences, and received awards and grants to develop some of her projects, such as Starts Prize Innovative Collaboration, I-Portunus Mobility Funds and Worth EU Partnership Project. Currently she is part of the Remix el Barrio collective that proposes circular economies based on food waste design, S-Biotica collective with whom she has set up a co-creation space in Barcelona for bio-based research and design, and the Living Textiles collective with whom she explores multispecies theories and habitable spaces for coexistence.
