Circle Time
Students learn the days of the week, months of the year, manners, and the alphabet through movement and music.
Active participation in adding a day to the calendar, determining the weather, recognizing the season and the month of the year.
Concept for the day/week (number, letter, science etc.) is introduced through a story or activity.
Arrival
Preschool: Students use clothespins with a letter of their name matching it to their written name to develop fine motor skills. Once completed they work on spelling their name and later writing their name.
Pre-K: Students continue practicing writing their name by copying what they see.
All Classes: Students then choose a book from the shelf and move to their square. Books have numbers on the front and letters on the back. Books are collected by number sequence to introduce and reinforce number recognition and counting.
Learning Centers
Centers in which the students rotate focus on the concept/alphabet letter for the day/week, fine motor skills, gross motor skills.
We have a Play-Doh and Sand room plus a Reading and Listening room complete with
pillows and stuffed animals included in the rotation.
Snack-Students are assigned a snack day. We encourage healthy snacks and drinks.
Creative Play-During this time, students have free play in the classroom. Choices include dress up, kitchen, dolls, Legos, blocks, animals, cars, and much more.
Outside Play-End of the day weather permitting.
Music-Allece Tegethoff comes once a week for each class to teach music.
Library-The church has a great children’s library. Students check out books once a week returning them the following week.
