Stony Creek is a creek that runs through our suburbs and parks from Sunshine all the way to the Yarra River. Lots of animals and plants need Stony Creek to be healthy so they can survive.
Stony Creek flows through Cruickshank Park in Yarraville.
In 1981, Cruickshank Park opened, and 50 years later they started a frog pond to care for all the tadpoles and frogs since they can't jump around in a polluted area.
There are:
four species of frogs in the park including the Banjo Frog, the Pobblebonk Frog, and the Spotted Marsh Frog.
12 species of birds, and also possums.
six species of fish (three native, three invasive)
Which makes it a special place to them, and us.
