Mass: Preschool will begin attending mass on All Saints Day in November. Parents are welcome to attend mass; please email the teacher if you plan on attending and if you want to sit with your child. Preschoolers will be assisted by middle school mass buddies who will sit with the preschoolers.
Birthdays: We celebrate birthdays during snack time. Parents may send in a snack to share during snack time, but please let the teacher know which day you would like to celebrate. Please remember that we are a nut-free classroom. If you would like to send cupcakes, mini cupcakes work best. Children are also welcome to bring other items such as rice krispie treats, cookies, brownies, etc.
Carpool: Morning carpool line begins moving at 7:40 am and ends at 8:00 am. If you arrive after 8:00am, you will need to park and walk your child into the front office. DIsmissal (for AM and PM) at the end of class is at the covered entrance on the corner (door #9) where the yellow speed bump runs between the church and school. You will park your car and meet us by the doors at the end of the AM class and wait for us to let the children out. When arriving for the PM class at 11:15, park your car in a line along the sidewalk and walk your child over to the doors. At the end of the full day (and the PM class), please park in a line along the sidewalk of the school and please stay in your car. We will bring your child to your car. You should be in line by 2:45 pm. Everyone will be given a laminated tag with your family's last name. If you are not here to pick up your child by 3:00 pm, your child will be signed into the extended day program in the school gym.
Absences: If you are running late or your preschooler is going to be absent, email Mrs. Blanchard. Do not use the attendance line, which is for K-8th grade.
Uniforms: Preschool uniforms are the school gym wear with our logo. The preschool fall and spring uniform consists of the school maroon t-shirt and black shoes. The winter uniform will begin November 1. At that time they will need a school maroon sweatshirt and maroon sweatpants. The uniform can be purchased from Flynn O'Hara Uniforms located in Fair City Mall in Fairfax, VA. *Closed TOE shoes ONLY, NO sandals or crocs at school. NO tennis shoes with laces, Velcro ONLY.
Labeling/Extra Clothes: Please make sure all clothing items (including jackets and sweatshirts) are labeled with your child's name. An extra change of clothing should be maintained in a ziplock bag and kept in their school bag all year long. *Extra clothing consists of maroon top and black bottoms or the school uniform, 2 undergarments, and socks.
Preschool Bag/Lunch: Each day your child comes to school, have them bring their preschool bag with their folder inside. You can use the folder to send in any notes and/or any other related information. Daily work will be sent home on THURSDAYS in the folders along with information from school. Each day your child will bring their lunch when they come to school (depending on their program) and have lunch in the classroom. Make sure your child has a refillable water bottle each day (labeled), preferably with a flip up straw. We have snack time in the morning and afternoon. Please send your child with an AM and PM snack. We are a peanut restricted classroom. Please do not send in any items containing nuts (peanuts, tree nuts). *Students are able to purchase a hot lunch daily. A monthly lunch card will come home in your child's folder for you to complete and return.
Extended Day Pickup: If your child will be attending extended day at the end of the day, please let us know their schedule or email when plans change if they should be brought to extended day. Dismissal is at 2:50. If your child has not been picked up by 3:00pm, they will be checked into the extended day program that is located in the school gym. They would have to be picked up and signed out using entrance door #8. Some weeks include a Friday that is an early dismissal day. K-8th grade is dismissed at 11:30. All preschoolers will be dismissed at 11:15 on those days. We also follow K-8th grade for any holidays or days off. When there is inclement weather, Preschool-8th grade follows FCPS for school delays and closures. Information will be posted on the school website as well.
