Meeting The Tragically Hip

Dan was fortunate to meet most members of The Tragically Hip at the Vancouver airport in March 2007, and then again via FaceTime on Sep 30, 2012 after the 'Now For Plan A' release show in Kensington market (Toronto).

That is Dan FaceTiming with Gord Downie, who signed a CD for us by scratching out 'The Tragically Hip' and writing 'Dan + Little Bones Mixed Tape'.

Happy Days indeed!

New Orleans World

Similar to The Hip in the early days, we jam in the middle of 'New Orleans is Sinking', often throwing in Neil Young, Johnny Cash and usually ending with 'The Rodeo Song' before coming back to NOIS.

One of the songs inside 'The Depression Suite' from the album 'We Are The Same' is called 'New Orleans World'.  Could this refer to the on-stage experiences while performing NOIS moving through huge rooms with no windows?  What if that song in the middlle jam does nothing?  Did Gord see videos while lounging on-line (in the Day for Night Room at the Bath House) where his face looked like a mask (West Wind video)? Did he perhaps google NOIS and hear the live  Little Bones recording on our website (gimme gimme gimme...)?

Have a listen below for similarities to a version of New Orleans is Sinking jam from one of our  Little Bones shows at Barrymore's in Ottawa  (circa 2000), and compare to lyrics in 'New Orleans World'.  Gimme gimme is a pretty random and unique phrase.  You be the judge.
