The tiny baby monkey I came to call "Little Mango" was always getting into some kind of adventure. From watching butterflies, to chasing stray kittens within the park, he was a curious little long-tailed macaque. Still, Little Mango always found his way back to his loving mom.
It was from watching him, and other babies within the macaque troop, that I observed every detail contained in the book, "Little Mango."
The monkeys are mostly peaceful, gentle beings, and they take care of one another. The troop is like one massive family.
I began watching Troop Bravo (Little Mango's family) in 2021, and I continue to observe the monkeys today. I'm truly lucky to live in Indonesia, where I can see wild monkeys, and other amazing wildlife, near my home.
Mostly, I'm happy that I can share the story of Little Mango with you.
Little mango was developed in part through feedback and suggestions given to me from experts in Early Childhood Development. The aim of the book is to engage emerging readers and newly independent readers in an uplifting, yet educationally sound, nonfiction story. The hope is to encourage curiosity about nature and ecology, and about the wonderful long-tailed macaques as a wildlife species.
