‘Take What You Need Give What You Can’
Little Free Pantry
Located in Brandon, MB at South End Playground, 10th Street (across from Neelin High School)
We are not an organization. We are your neighbours.
Like you, we don’t have a lot of time or money.
But we see our neighbours’ daily struggles and feel called to do something in a way that reflects our shared values—compassion, generosity, and trust.
How does Little Free Pantry work?
Take What You Need/Give What You Can - it is based on the principle of sharing.
The LFP is small, limiting its quantity and variety. Bricks-and-mortar food banks are better at meeting pervasive social needs.
The LFP is a neighbourhood safety net.
The LFP can be accessed at any time – day or night. The door is never locked.
LFP is a centrally located reminder of our neighbors’ need and creates an opportunity for exercising compassion, generosity and trust.
DO:
Donate weather-appropriate food items (in winter items that don’t deteriorate if frozen; in summer items that don’t deteriorate/rot or melt in heat etc.)
Package/seal food items so they are food safe; and in small quantities so they can be shared by many.
Make sure garden produce is clean.
Donate dry goods in clean sanitary condition - new items only please.
Package & label clearly so people know what they are getting.
DON’T:
Donate unclean, broken, worn or unsafe articles.
Is there a need in your neighbourhood? Install and host a little pantry to help feed your neighbours.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
This Little Free Pantry is located on Treaty 2 land, the unceded territory of the Dakota, and the homelands of the Red River Métis.
