This permanent orienteering course is located in Lititz, a borough in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Lititz is 9 miles north of the City of Lancaster. With a population of approximately 9500 residents, it was founded by members of the Moravian church in 1756. During the American Revolutionary War, the Brethren House served as a hospital for wounded soldiers, some of whom are buried here. Another notable landmark is Linden Hall, the oldest all-girls boarding school in the United States. Hard pretzels were invented in Lititz in 1861 by Julius Sturgis with the opening of the first commercial pretzel factory in the country. In 1978, Muhammed Ali held a press conference in Lititz to introduce the Muhammad Ali Crisp Crunch candy bar made by Wilbur Chocolate. Since 1818, Lititz has hosted the oldest continuously held 4th of July celebration in the country.
