Lithobrake

Lithobrake's sound is a stew of jangly microwaved punk, psych-inspired rockouts, and wall-punching heel-stomping post-punk. As you listen, please be careful, sometimes the tempo plummets out from under you and the song plows into the ground like a busted dirigible, but most times you can just ride that record-spin surf all the way through. 

Constantly compared to 90s slacker indie rawk, we personally think our influences come more from 80s and 00s post-punk and pop rock. Either way, we draw from a deep old well of "alternative music" new and old. Neil Young once famously described us as "garage rock for emo kids."

Lithobrake is a punk rock band from Washington DC.

Craig Grande has been scarfing down and spitting out underground music since he was a wee tyke, growing up on independent suburban radio stations and burned CDs from his friends' older siblings. In 2021, he formed Lithobrake as the guitarist frontperson. He recruited longtime accomplished local drummer producer and music critic Al Shipley, and bass ringer and OG third-wave emo veteran Kyle Nicholson. In 2024 they discovered rara avis guitarist Zahin Huq, whose glittering tone completed diamond-in-the-rough sound they were looking for.

Lithobrake's self-titled LP is 16 original songs. Lithobrake wrote, arranged, recorded, performed, produced, mixed, edited, and built it 100% on their own. It is a product of pure unadulterated DIY creativity, captured over months in a chilly storage space somewhere in Washington DC in 2023.  It is available on all streaming platforms on  May 31st, 2024. Once we get signed and the money starts just pouring in like we know it does in the industry these days, we'll be releasing it on limited edition heat-signature platinum vinyl with edible record sleeves that regenerate when left in the sun. But until then it will be streaming anywhere you get your music.
