Brass Flares
Brass Flares
These photographs come from several visits to New Orleans over the years. My first trip was in the winter of 2017, when I arrived from the East Coast and was immediately drawn to the warmth and the intensity of the southern light. The title Brass Flares comes from a memory of the city. Music fills the streets as sunlight catches the brass of passing musicians. Trumpets and trombones flare in the afternoon light—brief flashes of brightness within the rhythm of the city.
