How to Fit into a Social Studies Classroom:
RAFT writing fits into a social studies classroom in a great way after learning about an event and/or important person. Having a standard unit will also help them see what they need. And the rubric can change as they start to choose the R, A, and F of the project. Since social studies has so many POV and can can lack perspectives from less known sides, RAFT writing will help students develop more critical thinking as well as opening up their own thinking about issues. With a goal of social studies helping students be better citizens, if they can think about different POVs and audiences they might not always think about, it can help make them more well-rounded students and better citizens in out society.
No strategy examples as RAFT is a way to format and guide writing.
