Post doctoral researcher in synaptic plasticity:
Lisman lab at Brandeis University (http://www.bio.brandeis.edu/lismanlab/) has an opening for a postdoctoral position in the Neuroscience division of the Biology Department. The successful candidate will participate in ongoing investigation of molecular mechanisms of memory. Specifically, he/she will conduct two-photon imaging of living cultured cells expressing fluorescent proteins. Previous experience in fluorescent microscopy, cells cultures, DNA transfection and basic molecular biological skills are required. Basic knowledge in computer programming is strongly preferred. Research Technician:
Brandeis University is seeking to hire a Research Technician in the Biology department. The technician will be closely involved in experimental investigation of molecular mechanisms of memory. Specifically he/she will assist in imaging experiments on living cultured cells expressing fluorescent proteins.
Responsibilities: Assist in imaging experiments; prepare and maintain cell cultures, transfection cells with cDNAs, and image analysis; take initiative in cell culture maintenance; participate in DNA preparation; data analysis.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred in sciences; 1-3 years of work related experience is required; sufficient experience in basic science lab procedures are required; knowledge in molecular biological techniques and Matlab programming experience are strongly preferred; experience in cDNA subcloning is highly desirable; computer user skills (Microsoft Office, databases, data analysis) are required; professional skills and flexibility required; good people skills and readiness to learn new methods and take responsibility.
