English really is not my favorite subject. My husband says Americans do not speak proper English anyway because it is not British English. Taking this English Composition Class changed my perspective of learning the proper way to write or analyze a topic. The first assignment was to have a look at ourselves from the outside in. It was hard but the readings and discussions along with the assignment kept it interesting. With the help of Professor McGinnis videos and the writing center I learned to cite sources, rhetorical analysis, and intext citing. I will show some videos and things that helped me along the way while referencing "Becoming Rhetorical" by Jodie Nicotra.
I watched this video Professor McGinnis made to with intext citing for my projects. The more I watched the more I understood.
The Writing Center
When having to edit my projects after getting critiques I turn to The Writing Center for help. They were extremely helpful as they have online and in-person help. You don't really need an appointment you just log on or walk in. I usually did online as I live in Savannah and didn't want to make an hour drive. It was also great as it worked around my work schedule, and I could use the same person if I wanted to.

By the end of the session, I was able to read for understanding and learn "the level of attention required for rhetorical reading"(Nicotra, pg51). I am now able to understand "the rhetorical effects of images"(Nicotra, pg. 69) I was able to develop my critical thinking skills through class online discussions. Through the assignments I can now comprehend rhetorical communication. While reading and reviewing the work of others, I became aware of mistakes I have made. Overall, I enjoyed the readings, projects, and class discussion. If I had to, I would take this class again.
