Research mentor in Meraki.edu
I served as a research mentor for the non-profit educational program "Meraki.Edu"
I was in charge on mentoring high school students from underserved regions in Peru to learn how to do a research project and carry it on. I gave several public talks to explain keys topics about research to our scholars.
Research mentor in Yachay Wasi
During COVID-19, my passion for teaching led to be a volunteer in the educational program "Yachay Wasi" (which means "The Knowledge House" in Quechua, a Peruvian originary language). We aimed to reach students in rural areas and underserved communities due to the deep educational disparities in our country.
I supported my mentee on the development of her biology research project, which she completed successfully and encouraged her to follow a promising career in science. She was a student at Colegios de Alto Rendimiento del Perú, and part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
