Lisa Stevens MD, DTMH, AAHIVMS, is a global health technical expert with 19 years of experience and a strong commitment to the prevention, treatment and care of infectious diseases in resource-limited settings. She currently works for FHI 360 as a Senior Technical Advisor TB and HIV in the Asia Pacific Regional Office, Thailand. Dr. Stevens brings technical expertise to clinical care, program design, implementation and monitoring, capacity building and research operations in the fields of tuberculosis (TB) and HIV. She provides technical assistance on comprehensive TB activities, TB/HIV and Multi Drug Resistant (MDR) TB including the introduction of new MDR drugs and regimens, adult and pediatric HIV care with antiretroviral treatment (ART) services, and prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT) programs.
Prior to her current position, Dr. Stevens worked as the Infectious Disease Advisor for USAID in Dhaka, Bangladesh, providing technical assistance in the field of TB along with support for the Global Health Security Agenda. During the eight years before this she led HIV technical activities including TB/HIV in Nepal for FHI 360, as HIV Clinician and Technical Advisor, and completed consultancies in care and support, pediatric HIV and PMTCT with UN agencies. In addition, Dr. Stevens provided technical support for HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STI) programs in other countries in the region. Prior to her postings in Asia, she worked with the Harvard AIDS Institute in Botswana as a clinical researcher on the Mashi PMTCT trial and supported the national roll-out of PMTCT, ART and Isoniazid Preventive Therapy (IPT). Dr. Stevens has a Medical Doctorate from the University of California at Davis. She completed a Family Medicine Residency in Santa Rosa, California (UCSF affiliate) followed by an obstetric fellowship in Rochester, New York, a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene in Liverpool, United Kingdom, and American Academy of HIV Medicine Specialist accreditation.
