About Me
I am a veteran educator with more than three decades of experience teaching in public and private schools. I began my teaching career in the Gwinnett County School System. During my ten years in Gwinnett, I earned my Master's degree in education, obtained the Gifted Endorsement from the University of Georgia, and completed an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Psychology from UGA. After 10 years in Gwinnett County, I moved to Forsyth County where I spent more than 20 years teaching in elementary and middle schools. In 2013, I completed the Educational Leadership program from Valdosta State, and in that same year, I served in an administrative position in a new elementary school in Cumming. Upon retirement, I worked in two local private schools as a middle school English Language Arts teacher and also as a lower school gifted program specialist. Currently, I stay involved in the Forsyth County School system as a regular substitute teacher. Throughout my career, I have taught many different subjects at all grade levels, and I have worked with students who have varying academic abilities. As an administrator, one of my main roles was coordinating student referrals to the Response to Intervention (RTI) process, including writing 504 plans and overseeing the RTI process from Tier 1 to Tier 4.
Personal Life
I am a native of Atlanta and moved to south Forsyth County in 1999. I have two adult children - Michael is a student at Lanier Tech studying Marine Engine Technology, and Nicole is a Freshman at Ole Miss University. I enjoy running, cycling, tennis, reading, and photography.
