Increase intake of natural light
Natural light can affect our body in ways that would surprise everyone. Natural light can help your body keep its natural time-keeping rhythm in check. Basically, if you are not exposed to enough natural light during the day, your body’s hormones will expect more and give you too much energy at night. This is why day-long outdoor activities almost guarantees a good night’s sleep.
Reduce blue light exposure at night
Similarly to taking in natural light during the day, people should avoid blue light from electronic devices as this can reduce the amount of melatonin you produce, which helps you relax and fall asleep. This is why most modern phones come with a night mode that filters out blue light.
Set your bedroom temperature
According to Dr. Lisa M. Cannon, M.D., people have optimal sleep settings which help them fall asleep and stay asleep. This includes one’s room temperature. Research has shown that people find 70°F or 20°C is the optimal temperature for sleeping.
