My PhD thesis, titled 'Interrogating the possibilities and problems of YouTube sex edutainment content: an Actor-Network Theory approach' examined the role of sex edutainment content created by social media influencers on YouTube. The interdisciplinary research utilised a three-phased mixed methods approach including the walkthrough method and big data analysis.

A UKRI and AHRC COVID funded project exploring public health messaging during the COVID-19 pandemic for men who have sex with men, alongside dating app usage and sexual wellbeing for this group. The research utilised a longitudinal series of 4 online surveys, analysis of Twitter data and content analysis of public health messaging.
The HEAL study explores development of digital learning solutions for the healthcare workforce. This project includes qualitative research into the digital skills capabilities and training needs of clinicians in the NHS Northern Care Alliance trust and development of an augmented reality app for nasogatric tube insertion.
DiSkPass is a digital skills training passport using bitesize learning to prepare health professionals for digital innovation in healthcare. The research team are developing training based on research conducted to understand the gaps in digital skills capabilities in specific healthcare workforce including nurses and AHPs. DiSkPass Nursing was shortlisted for Teaching Innovation of the Year at the 2023 Student Nursing Times Awards and development and evaluation are ongoing.
This research has involved the development of a social media community of practice for mentors in the breast services using Facebook, informed by a survey of the UK mammography training centres.
