LISA Explorer ("the app") is a file manager for macOS made by an independent developer. It is built to collect as little as possible: there are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
LISA Explorer does not collect, store or transmit any personal information to us or to anyone else. We run no servers for the app and never receive any data from it.
The app keeps its settings and state only on your Mac, in its own application folder:
your favorites (folder bookmarks) and saved servers: name, host, port, user name, authentication method, the private key you chose and the last folder you used there;
the host key fingerprint of every server you have connected to, so the app can warn you if a server's identity changes;
your preferences (sorting, hidden files, refresh interval, Terminal choice and similar);
the disks and folders you granted the app access to.
Passwords and private-key passphrases that you choose to remember are stored in the macOS Keychain, encrypted by the system; the app reads only its own Keychain items. Nothing in this list is ever sent to us. If you use iCloud or Time Machine backups, this data is included in your own backups like any other app data.
LISA Explorer reads, copies, moves, renames and deletes files only when you tell it to, and only on the disks, folders and servers you have given it access to. When you preview or open a remote file, a temporary copy is downloaded to the app's temporary folder on your Mac, which macOS cleans up. The app never uploads your local files anywhere except to the server and folder you chose as the destination of a copy or move.
When you connect to an SFTP/SSH server, your Mac talks directly to that server over SSH. The server operator can see your IP address, your user name, the credentials you present and what you do on the server, under that operator's own privacy terms. No connection passes through us and we have no way to see it.
Files and folders. On first launch the app asks you to choose the disk or folders it may manage, using the standard macOS file dialog. macOS may also ask for your consent before the app can see your Desktop, Documents, Downloads, removable or network volumes. Full Disk Access is optional and is only suggested when macOS blocks a protected folder. You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
Network. Outgoing connections to the servers you add. Nothing else.
The app is built with open-source libraries (Citadel, SwiftNIO SSH, swift-crypto). They run entirely on your Mac and do not communicate with their authors or with us.
LISA Explorer is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Removing a server in the app deletes its saved entry and its Keychain items.
Deleting the app and its container folder ~/Library/Containers/dev.kraloxit.LISAExplorer removes all remaining settings and state. Keychain items can also be deleted with the Keychain Access app (search for "LISA Explorer").
Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
