Welcome to COMS 020, Oral Communication. My name is Guadalupe Alatorre, and I will serve as your Professor this term. I have served as a Communication Studies Professor, Coach, Speech Competition Judge, and Mentor for over 13 years. My goal is to help you enhance your communication skills and apply concepts to other classes and careers.
I look forward to working with you! Let us begin!
Please watch my 2-minute video where I introduce myself and share a little
about the class.
Best,
Alatorre
Students should log into their Canvas course site several times per week to keep current on the course. Active participation in all assignments is expected. Students should be aware of all assignment due dates and specific assignment instructions and should regularly consult the Course Schedule to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner.
Students will access all course materials via the Canvas site, which includes minimum system requirements and tutorials designed to assist students throughout their online course experience. Students who enroll in fully online or hybrid courses are responsible for meeting the technical requirements necessary for this method of instruction and learning.
Do not tell yourself that the course will be easy. Instead, prepare yourself to work hard. Plan specific times and places you will work on the course without distractions.
Read All Course Information. Read through all course requirements, policies, and procedures carefully. It is your responsibility to know this information. If something is unclear to you, ask your instructor as soon as possible.
Pay Close Attention to the Course Calendar/Schedule. Study the course calendar/schedule and note the due dates. Assignments will need to be completed by the due date.
