Spring 2024

Create a Liquid Syllabus

Facilitated by Cynthia Sargent

Build an engaging, humanizing welcome package for students

Meet your Facilitator

Welcome!

This page is a model Liquid Syllabus. It provides an example of what you will create during this self-paced training. The goal is to build an engaging, humanizing, mobile-friendly website that warmly welcomes your students to the course. As a public website, a Liquid Syllabus lives outside of Canvas allowing students to explore essential course details before they even log in.

Our training makes use of the wonderful resources shared by Michelle-Pacansky Brock. Most recently she has been working with STEM faculty to humanize their online courses.

Training Course Overview

Why transform the Syllabus?

In Part 1 of the training we spend a little time exploring how using a Liquid Syllabus provides an opportunity to implement equity-minded strategies.

About the Tech

In Part 2 of the training you'll set up a new Google Site and become familiar with the basic template elements available. You'll also be introduced to Canvas Studio.

Create your Masterpiece

In Part 3 of the training you'll put all the pieces together to transform your traditional welcome for students into a stunning Liquid Syllabus.

Keep in mind that our training focuses on creating a simple one-pager Liquid Syllabus rather than full website.
