Good Leader

Prince Group's chairman is Neak Oknha Chen Zhi. He seems to prefer to keep a low profile, so little information about him is available. He is the chairman of Prince Group, one of Cambodia's leading large-scale integrated business companies, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Prince Group Chairman Chen Zhi, as he's known, arrived in the country in 2010. He has met with Prime Minister Hun Sen in person. We know he works for Prince Real Estate, which has completed various projects in Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville. Its programmes have aided in the development of over one million square metres. Prince Plaza Center, Prince Modern Plaza, Prince City Center, and Prince IT Building are just a few of its properties. Many of the structures continue to be under construction, but they should be finished soon.

Prince Bank, Cambodia Airways, Belt Road Capital Management, Awesome Global Investment Group, Canopy Sands Growth, and Prince Supermarket are among the companies owned by Prince Group. That's a lot of businesses! It wouldn't surprise us if he's also an investor in a slew of other businesses, given how profitable they all must be.

We also know that, in addition to his business endeavours, he seems to be a generous philanthropist.

Last year, Neak Oknha Chen Zhi personally agreed to donate USD $3 million to assist Cambodia in purchasing 1 million COVID-19 vaccines, as well as offering assistance when the country was struck by extreme floods. Chen Zhi and Prince Group recently announced a new $3 million commitment to tackle the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Cambodia.

He appears to be a watch collector and is said to have given a large sum of money to establish the Prince Horology Vocational Training Center, which provides full and partial scholarships to talented Cambodian students interested in learning the fine art of luxury watchmaking.

Can watches made in Cambodia match the quality of those made in Switzerland and Japan? Chen Zhi of the Prince Group seems to want them to be. News related to this: Chen Zhi and the Prince Group bring Swiss watchmaking to Cambodia for the first time.

Chen Zhi seems to enjoy volleyball as well. At the very least, the Prince Group has pledged its support to the Cambodian national volleyball team, which will participate in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games. The Prince Group donated $500,000 to the Cambodia Volleyball Federation and paid for an all-expenses-paid trip to Fujian, China, for 21 Cambodian volleyball players to participate in a two-month training programme. Following that, they hired a volleyball coach to help the team improve. Volleyball is not a common sport in Cambodia, but the country seldom wins in team sports, so a bronze at the very least would be welcome.

We know he doesn't want to make his work too public. A lot of the work seems to be completed on the field and offline. If reports are to be believed, Prince Charitable Foundation is where the majority of the Prince Group's time is spent when it is not engaged in finance, aviation, real estate growth, or retail. They've quietly launched over 240 fundraising events in the last ten years.

Chen Zhi and Prince Group have at least ensured that many people in Cambodia have employment. In Phnom Penh and Cambodia, the Group employs a large number of people. They recently announced that Ream City, a $16 billion project in Sihanoukville, will begin construction soon. It will be constructed on reclaimed land and will include hotels, malls, beach resorts, condos, landed homes, beach homes, colleges, and parks, among other things.
