I'm making a handful of mixed CDs for my boyfriend as part of a birthday gift, and I have one left over. (I used the others for more personal, thought out playlists.) Basically lions are his favorite animal and they symbolize a lot of good things to him so I want to make a compilation of... lion things.

So my sister made fun of me for this, but I was thinking about how much I enjoyed Lion by (G)I-DLE and the lyrics "And I walk like a lion" from Enhypen's Blessed-Cursed. The word "lion" really evokes a powerful imagery so I am curious.

This album is the audio companion to the book Lion Songs: Thomas Mapfumo and the Music That Made Zimbabwe (Duke University Press) by Banning Eyre. These songs, recorded between 1973 and 2010, tell the story in unforgettable performances by the man and his extraordinary musicians, including rare and unreleased tracks. Mapfumo himself provides context in excerpts from interviews with Eyre over a span of 30 years.

Since The Lion King movie came out in 1994, and the Broadway musical three years later, people who grew up the tale of a young lion cub's journey to kingship have since introduced their own children to the story. As the famous opening number of the musical goes, that's the circle of life.

The title of this song, another Zulu chant, says it all. As a group of lionesses go out to hunt, they chant lyrics that translate to, "We, father, are going to hunt, father." Two of those lionesses are Sarabi and Sarafina, the mother of Simba's best friend, Nala. While their moms are away, Simba and Nala see an opportunity to explore the forbidden parts of the Pride Lands.

"Be Prepared" is one of the most beloved Disney villain songs in history, so naturally, it becomes a major number in the musical. This is the first major scene the audience spends with Scar, who raises an army of hyenas to help him usurp the throne from his brother.

When Simba left the Pride Lands, he left Nala alone, but she never stopped fighting for her friend. She finally decides to find Simba once and for all and bring him home. Nala and the lionesses sing this song, half in English and half in Zulu, to mourn the current, dark state of the Pride Lands and wish Nala success.

Songs of White Lion is an album by Mike Tramp featuring new re-recorded versions of White Lion songs, released via Frontiers Music on 14 April 2023. As the title implies, the new album sees Tramp re-imagining select cuts from his former band White Lion's catalog, including the bands biggest hits: "When the Children Cry", "Wait", and "Little Fighter".[1]

Songs of White Lion comes only one year after his most recent release in 2022, For Frste Gang, the album which Tramp sung a full set of songs entirely in Danish for the first time in his career.[2][3]

The album follows Tramp's previous release of re-recorded White Lion songs when he was first attempting to reform White Lion in 1999, on the album Remembering White Lion. To avoid legal issues with former members, the band was known as Tramp's White Lion when that album was re-released in 2004 under the title Last Roar.[4]

The success of "When the Children Cry" would eventually push sales of Pride over the two million mark. In addition, Vito Bratta was recognized for his instrumental talents by racking up Best New Guitarist awards with both Guitar World magazine and Guitar for the Practicing Musician magazine. "All You Need Is Rock 'n' Roll" was the final single released from the album.

Mike Tramp went on to form the hard rock / heavy metal band Freak of Nature, The follow-up was significantly heavier and darker than White Lion, featuring two guitar players and more visceral songs with a strong rhythmic foundation. The band released three albums between 1992 and 1998, Freak of Nature, Gathering of Freaks, and Outcasts. The band shared stages with Helloween and Dio in Europe in 1993. Freak of Nature eventually disbanded in 1996. Tramp has often called Freak of Nature the best band he has been a part of and also said that he wanted to stray from the 80s sound and adopt a more 70s approach.

In 2003, Tramp followed-up with his third album, More to Life Than This, which Tramp once again produced himself but relied on producer/engineer Flemming Rasmussen (Metallica) to engineer and mix the sessions in his very own Sweet Silence Studios.[17] The album's title track, "More to Life Than This",[18] and "Don't Want to Say Good Night"[19] were both released as singles. A music video made in Australia was released for the song "Lay Down My Life For You".Also in 2003, Tramp released the double disc live album Rock 'N' Roll Alive, which features Tramp performing live versions of songs from White Lion, Freak of Nature, and his solo albums.

In 1999 after commencing his solo career, Mike Tramp, with all new musicians, also released Remembering White Lion, which featured new versions of some of White Lion's classic songs and started what would be a long battle to reform White Lion.

In late 2004, Mike Tramp organized another group of unknown musicians and continued with a new White Lion under the act Tramp's White Lion,[22]this however did not stop the persistent legal issues with former members. Despite all the issues, 'TWL' (a.k.a. White Lion 2) played and re-recorded White Lion songs, touring and releasing a box set titled The Bootleg Series in 2004 and a double-live CD entitled Rocking the USA in 2005.

In 2005, a Concert Anthology DVD was released followed by the album Anthology in 2006 featuring never before released songs and demo versions of White Lion classic songs from previous albums.

Unlike most bands of their genre,[citation needed] White Lion recorded occasional songs that addressed social or political issues such as apartheid ("Cry for Freedom"), the war in El Salvador ("El Salvador") and the effect of divorce on children ("Broken Home"). The song "Little Fighter" was about the Rainbow Warrior, a ship owned by the environmental group Greenpeace that was destroyed by the French government.

Jesus Christ, as the Lion, conquered sin and death so that we could share in the glory of His eternal kingdom. This victory was made possible through his work on the cross, in which he stepped in as the innocent Lamb to be sacrificed for our sin once and for all. Judah: I had played in worship bands and had been writing songs. I was at Belmont [University in Nashville, TN] and I called Nate to see if he would be interested. I knew him because he had a beard and played the banjo. He brought along Brian and it just fit. It worked together as musicians and as people.

Linda, who died with less than $25 in his bank account in 1962, was a Zulu migrant worker who composed the song Mbube (lion) in Johannesburg in 1939 and recorded it with a singing group called the Evening Birds.

The show features a rich tapestry of songs and compositions, including from pop legend Elton John, film composers Hans Zimmer and Mark Mancina, record producer Jay Rifkin, and South African composer Lebo M, together with lyricist Tim Rice.

When this was announced I was taken aback. Mike has managed to put White Lion behind him. Do not get me wrong he dabbles here and there and there will always be White Lion songs at his live shows but there was a lot of hurt when this band broke up and it took a lot of time to get past the beast that was White Lion. He done it musically with a multitude of incredible solo albums and three very angry, spiteful and amazing albums from Freak of Nature.

Mike has openly stated he would do the album as he is now and who the hell am I to tell the man what to do or say. It is his band, his voice, his songs and his damned prerogative and for me each and every song is a beautifully modern rendition.

The Lion King II: Simba's Pride follows the story of Simba and Nala's daughter, Kiara. Hesitant to become queen, Kiara learns her place in the "circle of life", and through compassion and love, seeks to unite the Pridelanders with a group of shunned Outsiders that once followed Scar. Entertaining, nostalgic, and filled with catchy songs, it's one of the better Disney sequels that did not have a theatrical release. Take a look at a list of every song featured in movie, ranked.

Heartbroken by Kovu's banishment, Kiara reminisces about her love for the Outsider and her hopes that one day they will be reunited. "I know love will find a way, anywhere I go I'm home, if you are there beside me". The two meet as the song continues, and the young lions chase, play, and nuzzle each other affectionately during their tender reunion.

Though Kovu offers to run away with her to "start a pride all their own", Kiara realizes that the only way to fix their problems is through unity, not division. Meant to remind the audience of the"Can You Feel The Love Tonight" duet between Simba and Nala from the first film, "Love Will Find A Way" is sentimental and sweet, but not one of the more memorable songs featured.

The unsuspecting lions begin to fall in love as they float along streams and crash down waterfalls in the search for Rafiki's magical upendi, a place that can only be reached through the heart. Lighthearted, silly, and brimming with colorful imagery, "Upendi" is cheesy but fun.

Most of the songs in Simba's Pride mirror moments from the first movie. In that case, "We Are One" is the anti "I Just Can't Wait To Be King" as Kiara outright rejects her royal duties. After he catches Kiara playing with Kovu, Simba has a heart-to-heart with his daughter as he attempts to gently explain the circle of life, and Kiara's eventual role as Queen.

The lioness leader of the Outsiders, Zira remains devoted to Scar, and furious over the incidents at the end of The Lion King that led to his death. Her sole focus is to raise Kovu as a heartless, ruthless leader who will one day take revenge on Simba, and brainwashes Kovu to feel the same way. 006ab0faaa
