Heuristic Siting and Sizing of Public-Private Charging Stations and Anticipating Operational Impacts
Aug. 2023 - Present
Apply an agent-based travel-demand model (POLARIS) to conduct micro-simulations of charging demand from household EVs (HHEV) and shared autonomous electric vehicle (SEAV) fleets.
Co-locating fleet-owned electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS) with current public EVCS and opening their charging access for public use, called public-private (PP) EVCS, to tackle the growing charging demand from expanding SAEV fleets and HHEVs.
A heuristic is adopted to site and size the PP EVCS.
Estimate and reveal the spatial variations in the SAEV fleet and PP EVCS service performance.
Evaluate the financial & operational impacts of the co-locating strategy.
Recommend policies & incentives to accelerate PP EVCS.
