If you want a lightweight, over-ear experience with deep bass and passive noise isolation for long studio sessions or gaming marathons, choose Linsoul Kiwi Ears x; if you need precise, isolated in-ear monitoring with a wide soundstage and modular connectivity for musicians or critical listening on the go, choose BASN ASONE PRO 14.2mm. Both options utilize planar magnetic drivers to push the boundaries of audio fidelity, yet they serve fundamentally different lifestyles and physical needs. The choice between these two isn't about which sounds better in a vacuum, but rather which form factor and feature set aligns with how you actually consume music, especially when those moments involve movement or high-intensity focus.
• Linsoul Kiwi Ears x: Delivers massive, lifelike bass and an airy soundstage in a comfortable, lightweight over-ear design, but sacrifices portability and wireless convenience for a wired, stationary experience.
• BASN ASONE PRO 14.2mm: Offers studio-grade clarity, excellent noise isolation, and versatile modular cabling (3.5mm/4.4mm) in a compact in-ear form, but requires careful fit management and lacks the open-air feel of over-ears.
• Best For: The Linsoul pick is ideal for home listeners, gamers, and those prioritizing comfort during extended wear, while the BASN option is perfect for professionals, audiophiles, and anyone seeking portable, high-fidelity monitoring.
The Linsoul Kiwi Ears x is built around a specific philosophy: bringing the nuance of high-end studio equipment into a package that feels modern and accessible. At its heart lies a proprietary 57.5mm planar magnetic driver, a significant departure from the smaller dynamic drivers found in most consumer headphones. This larger diaphragm allows for lightning-fast transients and a bass response that is not only abundant but also tight and accurate across all volume levels. If you are someone who listens to complex tracks where the low-end often gets muddy, this driver technology ensures the bass holds its character without overpowering the mids or highs. The result is a sound profile that leans heavily into a bass-tilted balance, offering huge impact and a sense of scale that feels incredibly immersive.
Comfort is another pillar of this design. Weighing in at just 235 grams, it utilizes a spring steel headband and polymer cups to keep the pressure off your head. The ear pads are thick protein leather wrapped around custom-tuned memory foam, creating a seal that provides exceptional passive noise cancellation. This isn't active cancellation that introduces a hiss; it is physical isolation that blocks out the world, allowing you to hear undistorted sound. The pivot on the cups adjusts to a universal fit, meaning it adapts to various head shapes without feeling clunky. For fashion-conscious users, students, or DJs who need a reliable pair of headphones that look sleek while delivering professional-grade audio, this model hits the mark. It is designed to be worn for hours, whether you are mixing tracks in a quiet room or gaming through a marathon session.

However, this product is strictly wired. With a standard dual 3.5mm entry, it demands a connection to your source. While this means you can swap cables to "tune" the final sound based on impedance changes, it also means you are tethered to your device. This makes it less suitable for running, gym workouts, or any scenario where cable drag is a nuisance. Furthermore, because it is an over-ear design with a closed-back structure, it creates a sealed environment that some might find slightly warm after several hours of use compared to an open design, though the cooling properties of the materials help mitigate this. It is a powerhouse for the desk, the couch, or the studio, but it is not built for the road.
In stark contrast to the over-ear dominance of the Linsoul, the BASN ASONE PRO 14.2mm brings the power of planar magnetics to the in-ear monitor (IEM) market. This device is engineered for precision. The 14.2mm planar driver is housed in a compact, ergonomic shell designed to sit securely inside the ear canal. This form factor is crucial for musicians and producers who need to hear every detail of a mix without external interference. The sound stage here is described as wide, providing a sense of space that is rare for in-ear monitors, allowing you to distinguish individual instruments clearly. The bass is powerful but controlled, delivering the punch needed for electronic genres while maintaining the clarity required for classical or jazz.
What truly sets this model apart for the practical user is its connectivity and durability. It features a modular MMCX design, meaning the cable can be easily replaced or upgraded without damaging the driver unit. The package includes both a 3.5mm single-ended plug and a 4.4mm balanced plug, giving you the flexibility to connect to anything from a smartphone to a dedicated digital-to-analog converter (DAC) or professional mixing board. The cable itself is made of single-crystal copper, a material chosen to maximize signal purity and reduce degradation. For a musician on stage or a traveler who wants their audio rig to last, this modularity is a game-changer. You aren't stuck with a fixed cable that will eventually fray; you have the ability to upgrade the interface to match your evolving needs.
The fit is secure and fatigue-free, thanks to the inclusion of multiple ear tip sizes in silicone and memory foam. Memory foam tips, in particular, offer superior isolation by molding to the shape of your ear canal, blocking out ambient noise effectively. This makes the BASN ASONE PRO an excellent choice for exercise, commuting, or working in noisy environments. However, the trade-off is the intimate nature of in-ear monitors. Some listeners simply dislike the sensation of having something inside their ear for long periods. Additionally, while the sound is isolating, it does not provide the same "open" acoustic environment as large over-ear cans, which can make the listening experience feel more clinical and focused rather than expansive. It is a tool for the professional or the serious enthusiast who values accuracy and portability above all else.
• Best for deep bass and immersion: The Linsoul Kiwi Ears x uses a massive 57.5mm driver to create a cavernous soundstage and thunderous low end that fills a room, whereas the BASN offers tight, precise bass confined to the ear.
• Best for portability and exercise: The BASN ASONE PRO 14.2mm is lightweight and stays put in your ear, making it the clear winner for wireless-style freedom despite being wired, while the Linsoul is too bulky for active movement.
• Best for long-term comfort: The Linsoul Kiwi Ears x wins for marathon listening sessions due to its plush protein leather pads and spring-steel headband, avoiding the potential pressure point issues of in-ear monitors.
• Best for versatility and upgrades: The BASN ASONE PRO 14.2mm offers modular MMCX cables with both 3.5mm and 4.4mm options, allowing for easy swapping and balanced connections, while the Linsoul relies on a fixed dual 3.5mm setup.
• Best for passive noise isolation: Both excel, but the BASN ASONE PRO achieves isolation through a deep in-canal seal, while the Linsoul uses thick padding and a closed-back cup design to block external noise.
• Best for studio and DJ work: The Linsoul Kiwi Ears x provides a wider soundstage and greater physical separation, ideal for tracking and casual mixing, while the BASN ASONE PRO is preferred for live monitoring and detailed editing where portability matters.
• Best for cable customization: The BASN ASONE PRO allows you to change the entire cable assembly, whereas the Linsoul lets you tune the sound by changing cable impedance but keeps the connector style standard.
• Best for value seekers: Both offer high-end planar magnetic technology at competitive points, but the BASN ASONE PRO includes a comprehensive kit with multiple tips and adapters, adding tangible value for new users.
After weighing the specifications and design philosophies, I would buy the Linsoul Kiwi Ears x for my personal collection if my primary goal was home listening, gaming, or relaxing with music. The sheer size of the 57.5mm driver promises an emotional connection to the music that is hard to replicate with smaller drivers, and the comfort level is unmatched for long sessions. However, if I were looking for a pair of wireless headphones for exercise or needed a reliable set of extra bass head phones for exercise that could survive a sweaty workout without falling out, I would immediately switch my allegiance to the BASN ASONE PRO 14.2mm. Its secure fit, modular connectivity, and ability to isolate sound in a chaotic environment make it the superior choice for active lifestyles. Ultimately, the Linsoul is a luxury lounge chair for your ears, while the BASN is a precision tool for your pocket.
While the Linsoul Kiwi Ears x is comfortable, its over-ear design and wired nature make it unsuitable for vigorous exercise. The BASN ASONE PRO 14.2mm is much better suited for physical activity due to its secure in-ear fit and isolation capabilities, acting as effective deep bass on ear headphones for exercise.
Both models are wired and use standard 3.5mm jacks, so they work directly with most smartphones. The BASN ASONE PRO 14.2mm goes further by including a 4.4mm balanced plug, which is ideal if you plan to connect to a dedicated DAC or professional audio gear later.
Neither product has a battery because they are fully wired devices. This eliminates charging anxiety and ensures you get consistent power delivery from your source, unlike many wireless alternatives that degrade over time.
The BASN ASONE PRO 14.2mm comes with a white storage box, multiple ear tips (silicone and memory foam), a cleaning brush, and a mini cable clip. The Linsoul Kiwi Ears x focuses on the headphone build quality and cable customization rather than a travel kit, assuming a more stationary usage pattern.
