PhD Candidate
The Australian National University
I am a PhD Candidate in International, Political and Strategic Studies at the Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs, Australian National University (ANU), Australia, and a Visiting Researcher at the College of Interdisciplinary Studies, Thammasat University, Thailand.
I specialise in international political economy, security studies, development studies, and research design in the social sciences. Specifically, I seek to examine how emerging powers and geopolitical competition reshape international relations—including international cooperation and global governance—and how these dynamics influence development trajectories in the Global South. My research agenda is organised around three interconnected streams: (1) The political economy of international security and governance; (2) Geoeconomics, technology, and global value chains; (3) Environmental governance and sustainable development in the Global South.
Within these broad research areas, my research interests include non-traditional security, geopolitics, foreign direct investment (FDI), natural resources, conflict, international cooperation, and the international relations of the Asia-Pacific. Methodologically, I primarily employ regression analysis, causal inference, and fieldwork-based research. The regional focus of my research centres on the Asia-Pacific region, including China, Southeast Asia, and Pacific Island countries. My work has been published in the Review of International Political Economy, Cambridge Review of International Affairs, and Uluslararası İlişkiler–International Relations.
My PhD thesis examines international police cooperation with China in Southeast Asian and Pacific countries. Building on it, my work has been supported by the Early Career Scholars Seed Funding from the Center for International Affairs and World Cultures at Northeastern University (funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York), the East and Inner Asia Council Small Grants Program of the Association for Asian Studies, and ANU's Vice-Chancellor’s HDR Travel Grant.
