LinkSweep does not collect your data. It does not send anything anywhere.
There is no sign-in, no account, and no company server behind it. Everything
LinkSweep does happens inside your own browser, on your own computer. Nobody —
including us — can see what you copy, what tabs you have open, or what sites you
visit.
What LinkSweep never does
It never sends your information anywhere. There is nothing for it to send
data to. The extension has no server and makes no internet connections of its
own.
It never asks you to sign in or create an account.
It never sells or shares your information with anyone.
It never tracks the sites you visit or builds a picture of who you are.
It never uses analytics, advertising, or tracking tools of any kind.
It never sees your passwords, card details, or anything you type into a
form.
It never reads your clipboard. It only writes to it, when you press a copy
button.
What LinkSweep looks at, and why
To do its job, LinkSweep needs to look at a few things. All of this happens on
your computer and stays there.
The web addresses and names of your open tabs. This is how it knows which
tabs hold a shopping listing, how it builds the tidied-up list you copy, how it
spots two tabs showing the same item, and how it shows you a list of tabs before
closing anything. It looks at this while the popup is open, uses it right away,
and then forgets it.
The page you are on — but only if you switch on an optional feature.
LinkSweep has two extra features that are turned off when you install it:
Collect links while browsing — click a listing and its tidied link is copied
for you.
Open listings in background tabs — click a listing and it opens quietly in a
new tab.
If you turn one of these on, LinkSweep needs to see the links on the pages you
visit so it can act on the one you click. It only does this after you switch the
feature on and give it permission, and you can take that permission back at any
time.
A seller or channel name, if you ask for it. One of the copy options puts the
seller, shop, or channel name next to each link. When you choose that option,
LinkSweep reads that name from the page so it can sit beside the link you copied.
Nothing else. LinkSweep does not read the text of pages, your photos, your
messages, or anything you fill into a form.
