Our team works closely with Boces/Principal/IB coordinator/grade level teachers and other school Cultural Arts representatives to line up assemblies. They plan events from start to finish - creating and negotiating contracts, including sign off from the vendor, the School and Boces. Completing paperwork, contacts and payment all within the allowed timeline. Ensuring 9-12 assemblies per year.

Grades K-2 had a visit from Gizmo the Robot, a silly, friendly robot who helped us learn how to be our best self! Gizmo taught us how to be trustworthy, responsible, all about respect, caring, fair play, good citizenship and anti-bullying skills!

Through a read-aloud of I Walk With Vanessa, students (grades 3rd -5th) practice identifying mean and discriminatory behavior, discuss the importance of kindness, and develop their role as an upstander. Students unpack key vocabulary, model critical thinking through discussion questions, and connect stories to their own experiences in community settings through dialogue and art.
This lesson is designed to build enduring understandings across elementary grade levels. Hands-on activities and class discussions provide students with concrete ways to express their commitments to upstander intervention. Ultimately, this curriculum is designed to nurture empathy, encourage responsibility, and empower every child to use their voice and actions to build stronger, more inclusive communities.

As with tradition, Link closed out their assemblies for the year on June 12th with the famous and (loud 🙂) Hollyrock Gameshow! Grades K-5, as well as teachers, had fun engaging in trivia, physical challenges and tug-of-war. Both staff and students had a great time cheering on their teammates

On May 15th Little Ivy Academy came to Link Elementary to share exciting STEM projects with the students. Grades K-5 built catapults, made music out of playdough and built robots. Each grade had an hour of hands on activities; learning how each activity was built, works and the science behind each project. The students enjoyed learning, building and watching their projects come to life. Special thank you to all the staff that helped out. It was a great day for the students and staff.

On March 12th - Link was dazzled by the presentation by Rob Surette and his Amazing Art Hero! Grades K-5 watched Rob as he speed painted many pieces right in front of their eyes. Through his presentation Rob conveyed the powerful messages of resilience, kindness, inclusion, self belief and self esteem, following one's heart, chasing after your dreams and being all that you can be. Students and staff were taken by his powerful message and breathtaking art. In the words of one teacher - "It was the best assembly they saw at Link". It was truly an awesome day for all Link students and staff!

On February 26th - Link Elementary had a visit from author Carmen Rubin. Grades K-5 enjoyed reading her book "Honcho Hates Mud". They enjoyed hearing about the characters, the illustrations and the process behind the book. They also enjoyed going on a peppermint hunt for hidden objects in the book. On Thursday December 12th - Grades K-5 experienced a Weather Tour by John Marshall. All grades received an education on weather and what goes into being a meteorologist. This interactive weather assembly follows the next generation of science students as it took them through a real life green screen weather tv studio. This hands on, STEM infused assembly had the students and teachers engaged the whole time! Fun was had by all.

On November 20th, the 4th Grade enjoyed a visit from Cliff Mendelson making Native American Clay Pots. Each student constructed their own one-of-a-kind vase. They decorated them with Native American designs, imagery, and patterns. This interactive program was instrumental in each student building mind body coordination using a 3D medium. After the pots dry they will finish painting them in art class.
Students and teachers both enjoyed making a one of a kind masterpiece! Thank you 4th grade for a wonderful day!

On Tuesday October 29th- Grade 4 and Grade 5 participating in the Kindness is Contagious assembly. Dina, from the Holocaust Museum Center for Tolerance and Education presented an interactive session on kindness to promote acceptance and embrace diversity. She went though activities reflecting on themes of kindness, tolerance, empathy and respect through the action of paying it forward. She also wrote a poem for the Link Students!

On October 22 Link Elementary Grades K-5 got to enjoy an assembly by the Prismatic Magic Light Show. Presenters Matt and Leo walked the kids through the educational science behind Lasers and Light and as well as how it all works behind the scenes. All grades then got to enjoy a Halloween themed light show. All kids got a chance to sing and dance along to some spooky songs as well as some popular songs the kids all know. The gym was rocking! The laughs and fun were heard by all! Students and Staff all enjoyed it. Please also see an extra item below from the Prismatic Magic Light Show for the staff and students to enjoy all year.

Gameshow Assembly
Grades K-5 participated in our end of the Year Gameshow hosted by Hollyrock. Kids and staff participated in interactive question and answer games as well as physical challenges. All questions were educational while supporting a positive message of good sportsmanship. If you were anywhere near the school on June 4th you could hear the cheers from the kids, as the gym was booming with laughter. Everyone had a blast!

Jonathan Kruk
Jonathan Kruk joined us on May 17th to entertain us through the power of storytelling. He did three shows, one for each grade K-2, aligning each presentation to the age level. His interactive fables and stories entertained the students and staff alike. He had the students participating all throughout the show. The assembly was enjoyed by all.

David Adler
This week Grades K-5 had an Author Visit from David Adler. David is the author of the Cam Janson book series. He took the children on a journey through the writing and publishing process while drawing the children in with relatable stories. He showed children how story writing can be fun and how easy it is to get started. He also showed them that nothing is ever perfect the first time around - every good story is rewritten a bunch of times. And no matter what, they should never give up on writing.

Day in Clay with Cliff Mendelson
Today, fourth graders engaged in a multicultural workshop in ceramic arts. Using their newfound knowledge of potters and proper technique, our Leopards created one-of-a-kind vessels complete with symbols, patterns and imagery that is often seen in Native American culture. Art is all around us and its influence is far-reaching all around the globe — especially in Africa, Greece, Asia and Latin and South America!

A Day of Drum & Dance with Path To Rhythm
This week Link Grades K-5 attending the Assembly " A Day of Drum & Dance with Path To Rhythm". Adam and Yahya put on an amazing show for the students and staff! Everyone had a chance to learn through interactive playing on drums, as well as, participate in West African dances. They taught the children the connections between drumming and dancing. Everyone had a great time!

Jared Campbell
Jared Campbell performed an assembly for grades K-5. He performed his original songs, while taking kids through his songwriting process. The songs carried a message of kindness and caring. The students were also taken on an interactive sing-along journey that included a lot of their favorite video games - which was a huge hit!

CHRISTMAHANNUKWANZADAN
On December 13th - Grades K-5 attended the Assembly CHRISTMAHANNUKWANZADAN. Winter is a glorious time of year. We welcome all the holidays in with a rousing, interactive and entertaining multicultural school show CHRISTMAHANNUKWANZADAN covered all that...and much more! This multimedia-filled, magical tour of music from several holidays introduced them to cultures from all over the world. Students learned about how each piece of music contextually fits into holidays and societal celebrations from around the world. The students enjoyed a sing along presentation with a video presentation. And they magically made it snow right inside our school!!!

TALEWISE
Last week, Talewise presented to grade K-5 an amazing assembly based around science. Through theatrical science & storytelling programs this interactive storytelling assembly helped students connect science concepts. Students got involved in the presentation through the use of sound and gestures. The stories provide a framework and context for science demonstrations, using the power of theatre to make science come to life.

This week the PTA had an assembly for the 3rd - 5th grade children.
David Gonzalez joined us for a wonderful storytelling session called Witches, Trolls and Mischief Makers. During his presentation he told mythical stories about the classic struggle between good and evil. Good always Wins!

PRISMATIC MAGIC
Prismatic Magic came to Link to provide the children with a laser light show.
The students participated in a 40-minute interactive laser adventure set to music. Students went on a Kindness Quest with an interactive voyage involving superheroes, a treasure map and an outer space robot.
During the journey students meet a laser character named Max Bravado. Max makes education entertaining through puzzles, games and awesome optical illusions, all while on a kindness journey. The students enjoyed participating and singing all the music.
