Later in his journey, Link arrives in Animal Village. The Owl had told him to venture into Yarna Desert to find an important item that will aid him. Unfortunately, a large, sleeping Walrus blocks his path. However, one of the six rabbit siblings of Animal Village tells Link that Marin and her beautiful voice can awaken those who hear her. Link returns to Mabe Village and eventually gets an Ocarina from the Dream Shrine. He finds Marin on the Toronbo Shores who tells him of her wish to be a Seagull so that she can fly around the world and share her songs with many people. She hopes that she can make this wish to the Wind Fish. Afterwards, Link learns from Marin how to play the Ballad of the Wind Fish on his Ocarina, a song of awakening. However, since it is not enough to awaken the Walrus, Marin tags along with Link to Animal Village. Marin decides to stay in Animal Village after the Walrus awakes, and Link finds the Angler Key in Yarna Desert.

Inside, Link finds the true mastermind behind all of the chaos on Koholint Island, the Shadow Nightmares who have the power to transform. The monsters were created by the Shadow Nightmares to prevent Link from awakening the Wind Fish.[12] After a long battle, Link defeats the Shadow Nightmares, the last of Koholint Island's evils. Suddenly, a stairway opens and Link climbs up, where he finds himself in a strange black room filled with rainbow clouds and stars.

The long-awaited remake of The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening has finally arrived on Nintendo Switch and it's safe to say the latest version is another big hit for the console. Unlike Breath of the Wild, Link's Awakening is a 2D game with a far more linear style, however, it still retains the series signature weapons, dungeons, and quest lines that interlink with the main story.

I am thinking of getting Link's Awakening for switch but realized it's part of a sequel, no? I am wondering if it's best to play a certain title before it such as A Link to the Past on snes? or what is a good order to play these games... I already got BoTW and that's good on its own is it the same for links awakening or should i play anything first

I also concur. Most Zelda games are fairly self contained, with any version of Link's Awakening among that number. The only exceptions are Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask (Same Link, with OoT clearly meant to be played first), the two Oracle games on GBC (though these can be played in either order, they can be linked together to change the plot in the second of the two you play), BotW/TotK (TotK is a sequel, though it appears for new players' sake they've retconned or ignored some events from BotW, so technically you could start with TotK), and The Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass (Same Link, but the very beginning of PH loosely recaps what happened in TWW)...and by extension Spirit Tracks, but there's a span of 100 years between it and PH's ending. 2351a5e196
