This policy explains what LineTime collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
LineTime is operated by an individual developer based in the United Kingdom. Contact: kkwikmick@gmail.com
You don't create an account, and we never ask for your name, email or phone number.
Your device is given an anonymous ID so your data follows you between sessions. We can't tie it to you as a person.
What you type into the app is stored on our servers so it works across sessions and so features like crowd wait-times and food ratings work.
Some things you type are sent to an AI provider to generate a result.
We show ads, which use your device's advertising ID.
You can delete everything from inside the app.
When you first open LineTime, an anonymous account is created for your device. It's a random identifier — no email, name, phone number or social login. It exists so your profiles, scores and history persist between sessions and so your data can be kept separate from other people's.
Because it's anonymous, we cannot identify you from it, which also means we can't restore your data if you uninstall the app or lose your device.
Depending on which features you use, we store:
Venue and ride names, wait times, timestamps — Crowdsourced queue-time estimates
Player profile names, icons and colours — Showing who's playing, tracking scores
Game scores and results — Profile stats and your game history
Answers you challenge or flag — AI fact-checking, growing the answer bank
Your reason when you appeal a fact-check — A second AI check of that answer
Category names you request (quiz categories, and Snake in the Queue question sets) — Building the category, then listing it for all players
Food place names, dish names, ratings, notes — Crowdsourced food ratings
Daily log entries: where you went, favourites, funniest moments, day rating — Your personal diary within the app, one per profile
Planner items: plans, show times, to-dos, places — Your trip planner
Snack list: snack names, parks, places — Your list of food to try
Photos you add to a daily log — Your personal diary within the app
Quotes you submit in the Quote Game — "How many others picked this too" counts
Please note: profile names, log entries and plan notes are free-text fields. If you type a real person's name into them, that name is stored. Please don't enter other people's personal information without their agreement.
Photos you attach to a daily log are stored in private cloud storage. They are not public: access is restricted to your own account, and the app displays them using short-lived links that expire. Nobody else — including other LineTime users — can view them.
LineTime shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob uses your device's advertising ID to serve and measure ads. You can reset or delete that ID in your Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).
Google's handling of this data is covered by their own policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
If you subscribe to Premium, the purchase is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment details. We store only whether your account currently has Premium.
These features send text to Anthropic (the provider of the Claude AI models) to generate a result:
Plot Twist — the category and each player's answer
Challenge queue — the category, the disputed answers you submit (including Phoney Baloney answers said to be real), and the letter the answer had to start with
Appeals ("I'm sure this is right") — the answer, the category, and the explanation you type
Category requests — the category name you type, for a quiz category or a Snake in the Queue question set
Wisecrack Shack — only the category name, to write prompts for it. Nothing players type in that game is sent
Only that text is sent. Your anonymous ID, profiles, photos, location and history are not. Anthropic processes it to return a result and does not use it to train their models. Their policies: https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy
We also record how many AI requests your account makes, and the size of each, so daily limits can be enforced and costs monitored.
We do not sell your data. Ever. It is shared only with the services needed to run the app:
Supabase — Database, storage, anonymous accounts — EU / US
Anthropic — AI generation (see above) — US
Google AdMob — Advertising — Global
Google Play — Subscription billing — Global
This may involve transferring data outside the UK/EEA. Those transfers rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses.
Some data is deliberately pooled to make crowdsourced features work, but always as aggregated numbers, never as your individual records:
Queue times feed into average and median wait estimates
Food ratings feed into a crowd score, shown only once at least three people have rated the same item
Challenged answers confirmed as correct are added to the shared answer bank, as the answer text alone
One thing is shared as written rather than as a number: a category you request — a quiz category, or a Snake in the Queue question set the AI writes for it — once the AI approves it, appears in every player's category list under the name you typed (tidied up by the AI). It is not shown with your name or anything that identifies you, and any player can report a category that shouldn't be there.
Nobody can see your individual sessions, ratings, photos, log entries, plans, snack list or profiles. The database enforces this at the row level, not just in the app.
Your data is kept until you delete it. When you delete, everything goes — your profiles, scores, game history, logs, photos, ratings, plans, snack list, quotes and queue history are removed outright rather than anonymised and retained. The crowd averages simply recalculate without your contributions.
Two things stay, neither linked to you. Answers confirmed as correct by the fact-checker stay in the shared answer bank as the answer text alone, indistinguishable from answers added by anyone else. Categories you requested stay in the shared list, with the link to your account removed.
Under UK GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.
To delete your data: open the app and go to Profiles → Delete all my data. This permanently removes your profiles, scores, logs, photos, ratings and queue history. It cannot be undone.
Because accounts are anonymous, we cannot identify or action requests by email — we'd have no way to verify which data is yours, and matching a stranger's email to an anonymous account would be a bigger privacy risk than it solves. The in-app deletion is the mechanism.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: https://ico.org.uk
LineTime is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. The app is rated for a general audience and contains comedic AI-generated content that may not suit younger children.
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top will be updated and a notice will be shown in the app.
Character, brand and product names used in LineTime's quiz categories are trademarks of their respective owners, and appear only to refer to the things they name. LineTime is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them.
