Course Information

Instructors:

Class Meetings (AC 417):

      • Monday (10:50 - 12:30)
      • Wednesday (9:00 - 10:40)
      • Thursday (10:50 - 12:30)

Deliverables:

      • Your portfolio is a neatly kept record of all work. Maintain separate sections for homework, quizzes and project work.
      • Studio problems are assigned weekly on Wednesday. The following Wednesday your portfolio will be graded for completeness. The next Thursday you will present the studio problems to your peers in small groups and then participate in a class discussion.
      • Quizzes are given biweekly on Mondays. Incorrect answers should be corrected and resubmitted. Both the original and corrected quiz should be kept in the portfolio.
      • The final project is an opportunity to extend, consolidate, and apply the mathematics you have learned. You will give a presentation to the class during finals period.

Grading:

      • Quizzes (40%), Homework (30%), Project (30%)
      • Adhere to the honor code. Collaboration is encouraged on the studios. However, refrain from writing up solutions obtained in a group setting that you cannot replicate and explain. Pretending to understand more than you do is often tempting, but it undermines learning and shows a lack of respect for yourself and for others.
      • Late Policy: Each student has a bank of 7 late days (i.e. 1 assignment is late 7 days or 7 assignments are each late 1 day) before points are taken off the assignment
