  • Description
  • The challenge is to build a self operating robot that detects and follows a line that is drawn on the floor and and reach the finish point as soon as possible.
  • The robot to complete the course in the shortest period of time while accurately tracking the course line from start to finish wins.

Rules & Regulations

  • A team may consist of a maximum of 4 members. Students from different educational institutes can form a team.
  • Robots must not use ready-made mechanisms, Lego kits, etc. However, ready-made sensors and micro-controller kits can be used.
  • Any student with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes is eligible to participate.
  • Teams are not allowed to replace parts between runs. They are, however, allowed to replace defective sensors.
  • Change of batteries and modifications to the code are allowed but the game play has to be restarted.
  • Judge's decision will be final and any further arguments with the judges will be penalized.


Robot Specifications:

• The robot must be controlled autonomously with no human aid.

• Robot weight: Any

• Robot size at all times must be less then (width x length x height): 8.5” x 8.5” x any

• The robot must be powered by a power source such as a battery fixed on the robot.

• The Robot cannot be powered by a stationary power source connected to the robot by a cord.

Course Specifications:

• The base of the arena would be white with black line of 25mm in width.

Prelims:

• This consists of basic track. Here the members are short listed based on time and charted to final round.

• Time limit of 3 minutes per run.

• The robot must restart from the starting position if it deviates from the specified path.

• Every team is allowed to have three attempts and best of three runs would be considered.


Finals:

  • This consists of complex circuit and also time taking. The team which completes tracing the track in the minimum time are considered as the winner
  • Three warnings will be provided when the bot goes out of the track.
  • In such cases, the team will be penalized if they do not start tracing the line within 10 seconds after deviating from the path.
  • Two skips are allowed while tracing the entire course of the arena. For each skip, the bot will be penalized.
  • The time it takes for a Line Follower to make the circuit of a track shall be the recorded lap time.
  • The Line Follower shall have a specified maximum number of attempts to run the track within a stipulated time limit (typically 3 to 5 minutes and from 3 to 4 attempts to be decided by the organizer on the day of the race). If the performance time limit is reached and the Line Follower is in the midst of a run, the Line Follower will be allowed to complete the run and the lap time will be valid if the run is successful.
  • If the none of the bots finishes the course, then the one which covered the longest distance in less time will be considered as the winner
