About me

"A teacher's job is to take a bunch of live wires and make sure that they are well-grounded."

Darwin D. Martin

Hey everyone! My name is Mrs. Lewis, I am 25 years old and live in Hertford, NC. I am married and have an almost 2 year-old daughter, Anna Grace.

I have two dogs, two cats, a donkey, many chickens, many ducks, and even geese. I love animals and spending time outside. My favorite place is just being outside. I love gardening, tending to my animals, and going to the beach. I can't wait to get to know you!

I graduated from Perquimans County High School in 2016 with honors, and then continued on to my local community college. I started college at College of the Albemarle in 2016 and  graduated in 2018 with my associate in arts degree. I then transferred to East Carolina University and graduated May 2021 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education Major. After I began student teaching in January of 2021 at Hertford Grammar School, it did not take me long to feel right at home in the school system.

In the spring of 2021 I graduated ECU with my Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education (K-6), as well as with my Reading Specialist Certificate for grades K-12. After graduating, I obtained a teaching position for third grade at Hertford Grammar School in Hertford, North Carolina.

In my classroom, it will be important for my students to know that we are all one big team working together. There are no competitions on who is the smartest or the fastest worker, and comparing to others will only hinder yourself. Instead, encouraging and lifting one another up will become normalized and students will become aware that when helping others, you help yourself also.  I will welcome students everyday with a big smile and warm heart, and students will feel safe, welcomed, and loved when they step foot into their classroom. In my classroom, it will be our second home.
