It can be extremely helpful to pre-plan when to fit in revision with set homework and out-of-school activities . Here is an example calender and some tips for creating effective schedules, as well as a blank calendar to get started yourself!
A good revision calendar has a number of key aspects, maximising its effectiveness:
Short, yet regular, study sessions, don't overwork yourself as this can lead to less effective revision ( we recommend no more than 30 minutes at a time for those preparing for SATs)
Colour coding to make it easy to see what you plan to revise and how often
Clear instructions on what exactly you are going to do and how long you are going to spend doing it
At least one rest day a week (in the example calendar this day is sunday)
Include any commitments you've made to make sure you don't plan more than you have time for
Repeat topics frequently when they are new to you and less frequently when they are more familiar to you

Getting major brain fog? Not to worry, take a look at a few foods that have been proven to help you think more clearly and improve memory recall for all those important exams!
That's right! Walnuts are great for your brain, they can reduce headaches and help you think more clearly. They're a perfect snack for during revision sessions as they can aid focus, therefore maximising every moment you spend studying so you can get the most out of your time.
Wondering what to eat right before an exam? We've got you, bananas are a great food to have just before a test as they are high in potassium which helps nerves and blood pressure as well as having lots of natural sugars which give your brain a short burst of energy and, for a short period, improve memory recall. Another way that bananas calm your pre-exam stress is through tryptophan which encourages the release of serotonin (your 'happy hormone') which calms you down.
