Students schedule a weekly lesson time with the instructor. Students are encouraged to perform live music in recitals throughout the year. Tuition is paid per lesson, prior to the lesson. You may also pay in advance for the month. Online payment using Venmo is used to prepay for online lessons.
Beginning students can choose a 30 or 45 minute lesson.
Intermediate and Advanced students can choose a 45 or 60 minute lesson.
Current rates are $45 for 30 minute lessons, $60 for 45 minute lessons, and $70 for 60 minute lessons.
It is very important that students have a piano or keyboard at home to practice each day. Accordion students need a keyboard accordion, not a concertina. Bassoon students need a school instrument, rental, or their own instrument. I recommend 20-30 minutes of time each day for young beginners and 30-45 minutes per day for elementary & middle school age students. Children need supervision from parents to work this into their daily schedule. Adult students and high school aged students can plan on two half hour sessions a day or one hour of practice each day.
Daily practice is the key to improvement, confidence, and mastery.
MATERIALS FOR SUCCESSFUL ONLINE LESSONS All students need to write assignments in a notebook or music journal. Many take notes during the lesson. Lesson books are recommended after a few meetings, and can be ordered online. I recommend Amazon, Prima Music, or Sheet Music Plus, but there are many others. Local music stores also carry lesson books. I highly recommend using Piano Maestro, an app by Joy Tunes which is free and has method books as well.
A laptop, tablet or phone can be used. I am currently using Zoom for video lessons, but am able to also use Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and FaceTime. If you need help setting this up, visit this YouTube site for excellent advice from harp teacher, Anne Crosby Gaudet.
