Across the thirteen tracks of debut album ONLINE, Linda 917 blurs the lines between composition and improvisation with her Brooklyn-based band consisting of Isaac Grossman on piano, Yali Shimoni on drums, and Liam Hastings on double bass. Through sample manipulation and layered production, she transforms the album into a continuous listening experience where songs dissolve into interludes and fragile melodies collide with dissonance, texture, and free improvisation.
Inspired by Kate Bush's otherworldly vocals and fearless approach to production, Alicia Lindberg channels a vision of placing avant-garde music within a pop framework. Her work follows a lineage of women redefining Nordic pop production, from Björk and Emilie Nicolas to ML Buch.
There is protest woven into ONLINE, both lyrically and sonically. Lindberg’s unusual combinations of textures invert the dissonant and the consonant; her voice builds a dramatic, cinematic world mirrored by the unconventional chaos in her production. Lindberg says about the album’s creation: “The core of ONLINE was recorded with my band, and I've spent the past year experimenting with different ways to transform it in post-production, while retaining the essence of live sound and improvised music.”

ONLINE is a work of poetic defiance in the largely male-dominated field of jazz performance and music production. Across the thirteen original tracks, Lindberg reclaims vulnerability and lays a path for new narratives about the hidden weight that young women carry. She confronts topics often unspoken of in the experimental scene, such as eating disorders, body image, and mental health, while challenging the genre’s conventions.
