Linda Dougherty just retired as the District Library Chair and High School Library Media Specialist for Northwest R-I School District in Cedar Hill, Missouri. Heading into her 25th year as a school librarian, Linda shared the best instructional practices and integration of technology whenever she has the opportunity - whether it is teaching the freshmen in the library, collaborating with classroom teachers down the hallway, leading district professional development sessions or presenting at conferences across the state.
She confesses to loving national conferences like ISTE and AASL where she connects in person with her PLN. She is a member of ALA, ASCD, ISTE, MASL, METC, METC'S ISTE affiliate, and MSTA . Her recognition includes 2016 Missouri School Librarian Conference Featured Speaker, 2013 Midwest Spotlight Educator, and Google Certified Educator Level 1 and 2.
Her passion is curating new ideas and resources on Pinterest, Scoop.it, and Twitter which ties into the fact that she loves to read everything from tweets to science fiction/fantasy novels to super techie journals. No matter what project she is working on professionally, her goal remains to do what is best for students and teachers.
Even though officially retired from the school library, she isn't planning on sitting at home baking cookies. In September 2017, she will be the presenter and facilitator for EducationPlus' Library Media Specialist Academy which will focus on the changing role of librarians in the K-12 education world.
