Didn't I already sign a petition?

Yes, that's possible! (And thank you so much!) You may have signed the letter to the school committee that was sent in February 2024. That letter and your signature helped get this project funded the first time around. Now we need to do it again to ensure the project happens next year.

Is one signature per household enough for the petition?

Let's not take any chances! We want as many signatures as possible to show the School Committee and the Town of Brookline that this project is essential to the Lincoln community and our neighbors. Please have every concerned member of your household sign the petition and share with others.

Who is behind this project

The Lincoln Green Team (a subcommittee of the Lincoln PTO) is organizing this effort with the support of many folks inside and outside the Lincoln community. 

Where will the project funding come from?

The funding will come from the Town's budget--not from the School budget. Because Parks and Open Spaces (an office of the Town of Brookline) is responsible for all outdoor spaces around our schools, the Town, not our Schools, is responsible for funding the project. The longer answer involves municipal bonds and other money sources the Town has access to. Note we do not anticipate needing, asking for, or using any funding from a future tax override. 

What happens when Lincoln gets the funding?

The Parks and Open Spaces team will kick off a process that involves sending out a Request for Proposal to find a team of experts to advise the Town on the best way to address the complex issues around the Lincoln grounds. This redesign effort will take approximate a year. And we expect it to involve an advisory committee including the Lincoln Green Team, teachers and administrators, parents, and neighbors. 

How and when will the advisory committee be formed?

As soon as we know, we will let you know. We very much look forward to forming this advisory committee and are dedicated to an inclusive process that welcomes diverse voices and representation.

When will the project be done?

We wish we could say. First we need the funding. Then we need the Parks team to kick off the design process. Then we will wait for the construction process to start and finish. Realistically, this could be 2028 or later.
