I am an independent researcher based in Menlo Park, CA.

My research aims to provide new perspectives and understandings on elite politics, governance, political economy, democratization, and foreign policy-making under authoritarianism, with a regional focus on communist China.

I completed my Ph.D. in Government at Cornell University, and previous degrees at Stanford University (M.A. in East Asian Studies), the University of Washington, Seattle (M.A. in China Studies) and Shanghai International Studies University (B.A. in Broadcast Journalism). I was 2024-2025 America in the World Consortium Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Clements Center for National Security, University of Texas, Austin.
