COMMUNITY CORRIDOR INCUBATOR HUB
INTEGRATION BETWEEN COMMUNITY AND SUSTAINABILITY IN JOHOR BAHRU OLD TOWN
The integration of Community lCorridor Incubator Hub in Johor Bahru old shophouses is a sustainable effort in preserving local cultural and historical significance while also promoting economic development. By involving the local community in the decision-making process and promoting cultural tourism, the revitalization project not only aim to improve the physical appearance of the shophouses, but also fostered a sense of pride and belonging among the residents. The architectural approaches of community building, community street and community education are all focus on creating spaces that promote social interaction and a sense of community which to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal of 11.4 culture and heritage for more sustainable, inclusive and open cities and societies. Community Building refers to the design of buildings and spaces specifically for the purpose of bringing people together and facilitating social interaction. This can include shared spaces such as community centers, parks, and playgrounds, Community Street refers to the design of streets, corridor and public spaces to prioritize the needs of pedestrians and encourage social interaction. Community education, also known as participatory design, is a process in which the community is actively involved in the design and planning of their built environment. This can include everything from community workshops and focus groups to design charrettes and co-design studios.
