Working Experiences
Snackfood (13 years of Gift Shop and Creative Studio)
[Nov 2025 - May 2026]
Snackfood is a curated retail and creative space that collaborates with independent artists, makers, and cultural organisations through exhibitions, trunk shows, art tours, and retail activations.
As Creative Assistant, I supported the day-to-day operations of the business while contributing to event coordination, customer engagement, inventory management, visual documentation, and creative projects. Working closely with the director, I gained hands-on experience in the operational and logistical processes behind running a creative retail space and delivering public-facing cultural events.

• Assisted with inventory receiving, stock checking, product uploads, and daily operational reporting.
• Supported the planning, setup, and execution of creative events, trunk shows, archive sales, and gallery tours.
• Coordinated with artists, makers, and event partners to receive, organise, and display products for public events.

Galeri Petronas × Snackfood × TJ Fine Art
Following the success of the first "How to Talk to Kids About Art" art tour, the host and speaker were invited by Galeri Petronas to conduct an expanded public tour in conjunction with the exhibition What Song Do You Hear When You See This Painting?. The exhibition paired works by 12 Malaysian artists with soundscapes, Nusantara-inspired rhythms, and jazz compositions, encouraging visitors to experience visual art through both sight and sound.
My role involved supporting event planning and operational coordination from pre-production through event delivery. I participated in planning discussions and dry-run preparations, assisted with visitor registration and attendance confirmations, and provided on-site logistical support throughout the programme.

State Mural Painting Project [Dec 2022 - Jan 2023]
As part of a state-funded public mural project, I worked alongside the artist and project team to support the research, development, and execution of a 400 feet community mural.
The project involved translating local history, cultural identity, and community narratives into a visual artwork that reflected the character of the surrounding area. Through this experience, I gained insight into the collaborative and research-driven processes behind public art making.
Responsibilities
• Conducted research on local landmarks, heritage sites, and community history to inform mural development.
• Participated in the physical execution of the mural from preparation through completion.
• Engaged with members of the public, explaining the project's objectives and gathering community perspectives.
• Supported communication between the project team and local visitors throughout the painting process.
Key Learning Outcomes
• Developed an understanding of how public art can reflect local identity and collective memory.
• Gained experience translating research and community narratives into visual outcomes.
• Learned the importance of collaboration, adaptability, and public engagement in large-scale art projects.
• Experienced the role of artists as facilitators of community storytelling and cultural preservation.
Reflection
This project introduced me to the idea that public art is not created in isolation. Beyond painting, it involved listening to local stories, understanding the history of a place, and considering how a community might see itself reflected in the final artwork. It was my first experience seeing art function as a form of public dialogue rather than simply visual expression.
Volunteer Experiences
Supported visitor engagement at one of Australia's largest contemporary art festivals by assisting audiences with artwork enquiries, venue navigation, and event information. The experience provided valuable exposure to contemporary art practices and interactions between artists, curators, and the public.
• Assisted visitors with artwork enquiries and venue navigation.
• Supported audience engagement across exhibition spaces.
• Contributed to creating an accessible and welcoming visitor experience.
• Observed contemporary art practices and public engagement strategies.
