Website- Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe: A Sanctuary of Faith & Devotion (guadalupeshrine.org)
This shrine is over about 100 acres in the Mississippi River Valley and holds a chapel dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The shrine holds statues, gardens, and even devotional areas. The shrine is a dedication after the story of St. Juan Diego when Mary appeared to Juan Diego who was a present at the time. He told her to tell the bishop to build a shrine. He went and told this bishop who did not believe him until he brought a tilma full of fresh flowers that were out of season to the bishop. When Juan went to show his tilma to the bishop he let the flowers fall on the bishops feet and an image of Mary was imprinted on the Tilma.
The Church accepts donations and its mission is to build churches and help those in need especially the homeless community and the poor just like Juan Diego. Even if you are not catholic it is a sight to see the beautiful architecture and art work on these grounds.
