Create your own handsewn poppet bag-charm or jewellery. 

In this interactive workshop you will be guided through creating whimsical felt poppets that you can either attach to a bag or phone or turn into jewellery. Choose from a range of kits with everything you need and more to create individualised 3D poppets. Learn to hand sew, bead, embroider and much more in this three-and-a-half-hour workshop overseen by Susan Richardson. 

You will purchase a kit containing everything you need to make the poppets during the workshop. The kits contain:

• Felt to make one or two poppets (depending on style)

• Fabric to dress your poppets 

• Natural cotton stuffing

• Embroidery thread

• Glass or semi-precious beads or freshwater pearls

• Embellishments to personalise your poppets

• Needles and other tools to complete your poppet

You will be able to buy bag fittings and sterling silver earring hooks to complete your poppet.

Susan is an artist working primarily with jewellery and small objects. She has been creating soft sculptures for well over 40 years using a range of traditional and innovative techniques and skills. She is passionate about ensuring women’s ‘crafts’ are preserved and regenerated by teaching them to others.

Poppet kits range from $20 to $50 depending
