My little guy's name is Herbert. I texturized the fur of my flying squirrel with underglased and used black glaze on his eyes to look glossy/
My inspiration for this tea set is the classic Lalaloopsy doll and her pets! While there was no alteration to the original design of the teapot itself, the pets, the yarn balls, lost its animal like faces and ears; one originally being a cat and one being a bunny. I started with a lot of simple shapes and just put them together! I feel like the hardest part was the skirt for sure. It was hard to make ceramic look flowing!
I love funky unique projects and these dolls are considered niche now- it showcases what I used to love as a kid! I wanted to do something no one else has done before and I think also the fact that it doesnt have a handle and you just hold the body to pour it is unique in it of itself.
This is simply a milk pitcher. I threw this on the wheel and I altered it by gently pushing in and pulling out at the lip of the object. Originally, this was a wavy vase (not sure how else to describe it). I also placed a small indent on the side of the object to crate a type of grip. As I was looking for what glaze to use, I saw the Stroke N' Coat white with colorful speckles. It reminded me of sprinkles on a cake! This made me decide to make it look like a cake with icing dripping down the sides of it. I love the final look even if I was mainly playing it by ear!
My inspiration for this project after I chose sound as the larger theme was playgrounds. There's these contraptions at playgrounds where if you speak into one end, you hear it out the other. Here, the two outermost barnacles on this coral are hollow and connected so you can hear whatever is said on the other one! I love complex shapes and this was a real challenge for me. I wanted to do a coral from the start because of this. I just didn't know how to incorperate sound at first!
I love biology and the structure of an animal cell is very intricate. I wanted to represent that in a project. I used pinch to create it and used additive techniques to add the organelles. I used only underglaze for the color and clear LG glaze to create this work.
