Public transport
Motorbike
In and around Zomba there are many motorbike drivers that can take you for short distances, just raise your hand to any motorcycle passing and see where he can take you. Prices within Zomba vary between 1000-15.000MWK.
Minibus
Minibus can take you for further distances like Liwonde, Blantyre or Monkey Bay. It is cheap, but relatively unsafe with heavy load, full of passengers and impatient drivers. Prices start at 10.000MKW to Blantyre, and up for further distances. But the prices change quickly due to unstable currency (2024: 5000MWK to Blantyre). Ask Richard about the minibus leaving points.
Shared taxi
Shared taxi's are a good alternative to minibus because they contain less people (regular car instead of bus) and are a bit more expensive (still cheap). You can recognize them by red numberplates and they drive along the main roads in Zomba, taking you from North to South. Stand by the main road and raise your hand to catch one.
