I too am trying to figure out how to make the front door lights flash. In my case I want to be able to do this by either double tapping the on side of the paddle switch, or pressing a button on the Smartthings iPhone app. I would use this to single to first responders that we have an emergency, after calling 911.

For years I've had the IFTTT skill to flash the Philips Hue lights as an Alexa timer hits zero. The beauty of this skill is any Alexa timer will trigger the lights, so a timer downstairs will flash the lights thoughout the whole house. Which is particularly useful when I'm out of earshot of the initiating Echo device, and gives a visual alert for everyone.

What I saw so far is that they seem to have three lights that flash, two at the wings, one at the tail. Those at the wings flash two times (approximately per second, in quick succession), and that one at the tail flashes only once, along with the first flash of the wing.

In general, lights flash for the same reason that hazard lights on a car flash; because flashing lights are easier to see than solid lights. This applies to a lot of things in aviation. Building lights, tower lights, aircraft lights all flash because it is easier to see a strobe in low visibility than a steady light. White strobes are also brighter and red strobes are less reactive to the eye (which is why cockpits use red light). All of these combined help to make strobes easier to see and identify.

As to the pattern, as many have mentioned there is no specification on a specific pattern that aircraft manufacturers need to follow. For an aircraft like an airbus, wing tips may have a different blink pattern because the manufacturer wanted it that way. If I could take a guess, it would be so you can identify the orientation of the aircraft if you cannot still see the solid colored lights.

Red flashing lights top and bottom of the aircraft are turned on when pilots are clear to start engine. If you see those lights you know that there is an aircraft with running engines. So it could be moving towards to you, so be careful.

Flashing light at wings means that this aircraft is airborned or about to be. Pilots turns that lights on when they are on the runway. These lights are stays put during the entire flight until the aircraft off the runway after landing.

There's no specification for a pattern of flashing, and significant variations exist among different airlines and military. There is a uniform requirement for position lights (steady red and green on the left and right wingtips, white on the tail) and an anti-collision light system which is one or more flashing lights which can be anywhere on the aircraft. US requirements are in 14 CFR 25.1401, and say that the system must appear to flash between 40 and 100 times a minute. Areas where lights overlap can have as many as 180 flashes per minute.

1) Give a description of the problem

I want all the lights in my house to flash blue if ring detects motion, then turn lights to colour they were before they were blue. If they were off, then off again.

I installed this as I'm trying to get my son's light to flash to get his attention to come out of his room and downstairs instead of screaming at him. Looks awesome but sadly I need to use a button to trigger the flashing lights. Anyway you could add that?

I bought a Christmas LED light yesterday but it is static. I don't know much about electronic circuits but I learned something in college on RC circuits. I am wondering if we can build a flasher with one capacitor and resistor and put them in series with the AC socket. I Googled the idea of flashing Christmas lights but all schematics shown online were too complicated for me.

Ruckus ICX 7150-C12P all lights flash amber once and then turn off when connected to any power outlet. I have moved the device to several different outlets and all do the same thing. I found similar posts and tried many times but it always flashes amber once, then everything turns off. There are no power surge or internet connection issues, just that the device does not power on.

My wife bought a good quality ceiling light with 12 individual lights. I bought a trailing edge dimmer, but I found that the lights started to flicker after about 20 minutes. I carried out various fault finding with no success. I eventually contacted THORN who made the dimmer switch and they told me that it was probably a design issue and that they would send me, free of charge, new dimmer switches to try. I tried two before I got one which actually worked.

I have lamps connected to mini plugs HS103. At random, can't really say if it's at the same time or same days, lights flash 3 times and about 5 mins later they shut off... I also have Kasa switches, HS210, witch also happens the same. Since I don't have all on at the same time can't say if it happens with all plugs and switches at the same time... Is there an event log or something I could see that might give the answer as to why it's happening??

I was changing the struts on my 99 Forester this past winter. It was bitter cold and my work schedule made the project take a long time. When I finished the project the battery was dead. I jumped the battery and now the marker lights flash and the dashboard lights flash as well. The car has well over 250000 miles on it and used mainly as an about town car for the family...no long trips. Are the flashing lights the result of a bad battery..it is very old or is this potentialy a more serious problem?

What you are seeing with the lights is a programmed "Tamper" alert that your battery was disconnected. I had the same situation while removing and replacing both the engine and transmission. Working on major drivetrain parts, you disconnect the battery and on the restart, the system tells you what you did. If the car is to be parked for weeks at a time, it's best to disconnect the battery to prevent ghost loads in the system draining it dead.

I just got 77 280z a few months ago that wasnt running. I got it running (faulty fuel pump and relay) did a lot of cosmetic work to it body paint, rims, suspension , exhaust and it looks really nice now but all of a sudden my brake lights, turn signals, dashboard lights and aftermarket cd player dont turn on anymore?? I dont want to drive it without the lights working because there is a police station around where I live and work and if they pull me over for that there is a lot more they can nail me for (loud exhaust, no bumpers etc...)

Looks like someone messed with the wiring before and I bought a new flasher relay and that didnt do anything for the turn signals. Actually the hazard lights work whether the flasher relay is connected or not. I thought that was strange.

This wouldn't be all of your problems, but it would explain the head unit failing. Check your ground you used for the cd player. I've seen people use the dash lights for a ground because that's what they read on the multimeter when the lights are off. This in turn blows the fuse and causes problems with the head unit when the lights are turned on.

ITs just my dash lights, cd player and turn signals not working. IF the cd player was wired to somewhere in the dash where is it usually wired to? There are 2 wires that look like power that someone soldered to the fuse box. should that power it alone or do cd players need another connection to turn on?

Remove the CD player from the vehicle and see if your lights come back. The first stereo I ever installed in a car was in my old Geo Storm, and somehow I originally wired it up wrong in a way that the stereo worked, but my running lights (including tails) and gauge lights didnt work; I discovered I had wired a ground up improperly (I Think I used the vehicle's illumination wire for a ground? or something?) But try pulling the plug on the stereo and see what happens.

When plugging in the battery direct to the USB charger, the LED blinks amber and blue. For the first few moments, I can see the red night vision lights illuminated but eventually they turn off and all that remains is the blinking amber/blue LED. This should indicate a firmware update is in progress, but it's not connected to the base station or the internet. If I unplug the USB charger, the camera goes "dead." It won't sync, no lights flash, etc. Unrecognizable to the base station. Not sure what's going on here or how to get my camera back! 006ab0faaa
