I am super excited to be on the WiC social media committee at UW Seattle! There are so many amazing people in the Allen School, and I can't wait to highlight them and their many accomplishments through the social media platform.

WiC Club-Wide Group Chat

WiC has never had a group chat where all members can interact together and pool resources.

I proposed and created a Discord chat in the Fall quarter to connect new members with experienced members. Due to their time constraints, the chat was not released until the Winter quarter.

Here is the Discord chat, meant to connect all from transfers to direct admits and freshman to PhD students.

Channels include:

• CSE classes at UDUB for members in the same class to quickly connect and form study groups

• Coding resources

• Courses resources

• Hackathon opportunities, tips & hacks

• Internship opportunities, tips & hacks

• Networking tips & hacks

  • Social media drops

• Research opportunities, tips & hacks

• Events & WiC announcements

• Opportunities within the Allen School for CSE majors

WiC Website Redesign Proposal

The current website is very tired, with long blocks of text and not many design elements.

I am proposing a new design with glass effects, mirroring many popular designs, and an ombre background, incorporating current color schemes and UDUB color schemes as well. Long blocks of text will also be replaced with scrollable content and images to ensure a 1:1.5 ratio between text and media content.

WiC Social Media Platform Engagement and Retainment

The current social media platform (Instagram) only posts upcoming events and past event media content (videos and photos).

I am proposing new ways of engaging with the followers on Instagram to maintain close relationships. Moreover, there are engagement components meant to integrate WiC closer to the Allen School and connect members with faculty and advising members of the Allen School. Stronger connections, both on the internet and off the internet, can be formed through the social media committee with a few changes to the current social media plan.
