About the Liferarian Writing Community

At first glance, one might think of the lantana shrub as a wild and ugly-looking weed that ruins your garden landscape. However, lantana is a beautiful, decorative, easily-found wild plant and grows well in most soil conditions. One can find lantana bearing clusters of beautiful flowers, ranging from white and lavender to pink, yellow, orange or deep red.

The flowers are lovely, attractive to people, bees, butterflies and hummingbirds, even though they are highly toxic. Traditionally the flowers of the lantana plant symbolized rigour, as their blooms are long-lasting, grows easily and thrives on tropical soils.
