LifeNova Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 29, 2026
Last Updated: May 29, 2026
Introduction
Welcome to LifeNova. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the LifeNova mobile application.
Because LifeNova provides comprehensive fitness tracking and step counting features, we require access to certain sensitive permissions on your device, including Google Health Connect and background services. We want to be completely transparent about how your data is handled.
1. Data Collection and Usage
A. Health Connect Data
LifeNova requests access to read and write data to Google Health Connect. Specifically, we request access to:
Steps: To accurately calculate your daily step count.
Distance: To calculate the distance you travel during your activities.
Total Calories Burned: To track your energy expenditure.
How we use this data: The data obtained from Health Connect is used strictly to provide you with your fitness history, daily statistics, and progress tracking within the LifeNova app.
Local Storage Only: We do not transmit your Health Connect data to our servers. All step, calorie, and distance data is stored locally in a secure database on your device.
No Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell, rent, or share your Health Connect data with third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.
No Advertising Use: Your health data is never used for advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes.
The use of information received from Health Connect will adhere to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
B. Background Step Counting (Foreground Service)
To ensure your steps are counted accurately even when the app is closed or not actively in use, LifeNova utilizes an Android Foreground Service.
Continuous Tracking: This service runs in the background and is strictly tied to the health foreground service type.
Transparency: Whenever this background tracking is active, you will see a persistent, silent notification in your notification tray indicating that LifeNova is tracking your steps. You can disable this background tracking at any time via the in-app settings.
C. Device and Analytics Data
We may collect anonymized, non-identifying crash logs and analytics (e.g., via Firebase Crashlytics) to help us identify bugs and improve the stability of the app. This data does not contain any of your personal health metrics or identifiable personal information.
2. Data Security
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. Because your health data is stored locally on your device, the security of this data relies heavily on your device's built-in security features (such as PIN, Biometrics, or passwords). LifeNova also offers an in-app "App Lock" feature allowing you to secure your fitness data behind a secondary biometric or PIN prompt.
3. Data Retention and Deletion
Your health and fitness data remains on your device until you choose to delete it. You can clear your data at any time by uninstalling the app or using the "Clear App Data" feature in your device's system settings.
4. Your Rights
Depending on your region, you have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you (viewable entirely within the app).
Delete your data (by uninstalling the app or clearing local data).
Revoke permissions (you can revoke Health Connect or Background permissions at any time through your device's settings).
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
6. Contact Us
